Tracy enrolled on the Access to Employment programme with Groundwork.
Tracy moved to England from South Africa. She had low self-confidence and was struggling to find employment.
Following completion of the programme, Tracy secured a job with the guaranteed working hours that she required, and will be undertaking in-house training with her new employer.

How did Tracy find out about the Access to Employment Programme?
Tracy heard about the programme at a job club where the Development Officers delivered a presentation.
Tracy’s journey so far
Tracy moved to England from South Africa and was struggling to find employment and to gain the right skills to prepare her for work.
Nature of support provided:
Tracy was given information advice and guidance by the Development Officers throughout the programme. Advice was given on employment, and sessions were delivered on the Level 1 Award in Retail as this was the sector in which Tracy wanted to work.
How has Tracy benefited from being involved?
Tracy has now secured a full time job with the working hours and flexibility that she wants. She has grown in confidence and achieved her Level 1 Award in Retail and Level 2 in Numeracy.
What skills has Tracy learned?
Tracy has acquired the skills to gain employment in a new area of interest, that meets her and her son’s requirements i.e. better working hours and guaranteed working hours per week.
Tracy’s future plans
Tracy has already been offered in-house training by her employer to upskill her in her new role. She has been advised of further routes she can take to progress her career and will stay in contact with Groundwork, and in work support for 3 months.
What barriers has Tracy overcome?
Tracy’s barriers were low self-confidence, and she did not have a clear career path. With help and support Tracy has overcome these barriers and is happy with the outcome.
